How custom framing works

Custom framing at Rafi Frames takes four steps: send a photo and size on WhatsApp or bring the piece in, choose moulding, mount and glass at the counter, approve a free quote, then collect from the Karama shop or use pick and drop-off.

Four steps

From your wall
to ours and back.

  1. Send it over

Start on WhatsApp: send a photo of the piece and its width × height to +971 50 166 6972, or walk into the shop in Karama Shopping Complex with it. Tell us what it is, where it will hang, and any style you have in mind.

  2. Choose the finish

Choose the moulding (aluminium, wood or acrylic), the mount colour and width, and glass or acrylic glazing. At the counter we can lay samples against your piece so you can see the combination before deciding.

  3. Get a clear price

You get a clear price in UAE dirhams before anything is cut. Quotes are free and carry no obligation, and the price depends on the size, moulding, mount and glazing you choose.

  4. Collect, or we drop off

We confirm the collection date when you order. Collect the finished frame from the shop, open 9:30 AM to 10:00 PM every day, or ask about our pick and drop-off service.

How to measure your artwork

Measure the artwork itself, width × height, in centimetres. Tell us whether you want a mount and roughly how wide, or ask us to suggest a size. For odd shapes or very large pieces, send a photo with a tape measure in shot. For replacement glass, measure the inside of the frame's rebate, the recess the glass sits in.

Choosing a moulding

Aluminium
Slim, modern profiles that suit photos, posters and certificates.
Wood
Natural, painted or ornate mouldings for artwork, portraits and mirrors.
Acrylic
Clear, lightweight frames with a contemporary look.
Floating frame
The artwork or canvas sits inside the frame with a visible gap around its edge.

Choosing a mount

A mount, also called a passe-partout, is the card border between the artwork and the frame. It keeps the artwork off the glass and gives it room on the wall. A wider mount suits small pieces and makes them read larger; a narrow mount or none suits bold posters and canvases.

Glass or acrylic?

Glass
Crisp and scratch-resistant. The classic choice for most picture frames.
Acrylic
About half the weight of glass and shatter-resistant. Better for large frames, busy spaces and children's rooms.

Collection and delivery

Collect your finished frame from the shop in Karama Shopping Complex, open 9:30 AM to 10:00 PM every day, or ask about our pick and drop-off service when you order.
